I qualified as a Registered General Nurse before going to Keele University to study law and politics and gave birth to my daughter at the age of 24 whilst in the midst of my studies. Luckily the University had a nursery!
A bit about me
After finishing my degree I qualified as a barrister. I have been in practice in Leeds for nearly 20 years during which time I have represented clients in claims in employment tribunals all over the country, the Employment Appeal Tribunal, in mediations and at internal disciplinary and grievance hearings.
A number of my cases have been reported in the law reports and in the media. I recently appeared in the Court of Appeal and have been recognised nationally as a leader in the field of discrimination law for a number of years.
I am Public Access Accredited and clients can come directly to me for advice and representation via my clerk, Nicole, in Chambers. I am happy to be involved in presentations, training sessions and school events.
I am a committed ‘feminist killjoy’ and love all things food. When I am not arguing for equality, I can be found walking my dogs on the Yorkshire Moors.
