About our programme
Grant Thornton is one of the world’s leading independent assurance, tax and advisory firms. We are driven by independent thinkers that provide high quality business and financial advice to a wide range of clients in countries all over the world.
We are excited to partner with Women Returners to launch our Returner Programme, supporting experienced and talented professionals to successfully return to the workplace after an extended career break (18 months +).
We believe we’re best positioned to make a meaningful impact on the economy. Every day, we provide a diverse range of organisations with the kind of business and financial advice it takes to do this. Our ideas and insight empower our clients to make big decisions about the future and unlock sustainable growth. Through our fresh thinking and agile working, we help businesses, communities and our people to flourish.
You’ll work in the office and on client site, getting to the heart of how our clients work and the challenges they face. Making the most of your experience and client management skills, you’ll help our clients mitigate risks and work more effectively.
What you can expect
The Returner Programme offers a paid placement of six months, starting in May 2019, and the possibility of a permanent role at the end of the assignment
You will receive coaching support to help you to transition successfully back in to the workplace
Flexible working options are available, including part-time working
Peer to peer support – the programme is run as a cohort intake, so a number of returners will start the programme together. This will provide support to all those partaking in the programme
Mentoring – you will be assigned a mentor and a buddy when you start, to support your transition and help with any questions you might have throughout the programme
Bring your technical skills and grounding to our teams across the UK.
London, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Milton Keynes and Cambridge
We have roles in the Public, Commercial and Financial Services Audit sectors, from Executive to Senior Manager. You’ll have some experience of working on audits at any level, and you’ll be professionally qualified (ACA, CA, ACCA, CIPFA).
London, Milton Keynes, Cambridge
We have roles across Tax from Executive up to Senior Manager. We have Corporate, Personal and International Tax based service lines, candidates typically with ACA, ATT or CTA qualifications.
We are specifically looking for people to work in our Birmingham Employment Tax team, ideally at Associate and Executive levels. It would be great to see a level of employment tax knowledge/experience. The roles may be appropriate for someone with previous payroll or general tax experience providing they have an interest in employment tax.
Do you care about the same things we do?
We have six values we work by. When we meet, we’ll want you to show us how they’re important to you, too
Collaboration: Clients always comment on how friendly we are. We work together, share ideas and always make time to help each other out.
Leadership: Everyone has the chance to lead their own projects. We are committed to the success of our clients, our people, our profession, and our stakeholders at large, demonstrating leadership at all levels.
Excellence: We love what we do, and it shows. We sweat the details. We see things through, no matter how tricky. And we always look for new ways to do things better
Agility: The world moves quickly. To keep up, we stay flexible – changing approaches, changing projects, working offline, online, together and alone to get things done.
Respect: A given, of course: we value each other and our clients. We listen, understand, and we care.
Responsibility: We recognise our wider impact on our clients, people and society. The decisions we make and advice we give affects people’s lives and livelihoods. We act with integrity, openness and accountability to stay true to our purpose and behave in a way that is consistent with our values.
Committed to inclusivity
Now you’ve seen our values, it shouldn’t be a surprise to learn that we’re committed to creating an inclusive and agile working environment where people can flourish, where differences are understood and respected, and everyone is valued. Or that we’re one of the top employers in the UK’s Social Mobility Index. We treat everyone equally, we’ll value what you have to say, and do everything we can to help you bring your whole self to work
There’s more to life than work
Children, family and beyond.… the things you do and the people you’re with outside work matter. They can inspire, motivate and energise you. Inside the office and out. So if you’d like to work flexibly, let them know. We will do our best to keep your work and life in balance.
