November is shaping to be a fantastic month for family fun in Derbyshire, with some of England’s most spectacular annual outdoor events (Ok we are a little biased!). Ashbourne’s Christmas Lights Switch On: A Sparkling Affair!

Witness Ashbourne come to life with a dazzling display of Christmas illuminations, accompanied by the Mayor of Ashbourne Councillor Anthony Bates and Consort Mrs. Jane Bates, will join Santa Claus and Mirror Men in switching on the Christmas lights at 5:30pm on Saturday, November 18th in the Market Place. Burton Christmas Lights Switch-on

Dronfield Christmas Lights Switch-on 2023

I have been told it’s a Derbyshire tradition for over a century; the Matlock Bath Illuminations are a sight. This year, we are so excited to go for our first year! Spectacular boat parades illuminated with thousands of lights glide along the River Derwent, creating a magical atmosphere. What’s On In Derbyshire In November Firework Displays

Eyam Bonfire and Firework Display

The festivities kick off at the village square from 5.30 pm. Witness the torch-lit music-led procession featuring the infamous ‘Willow Rat’, paying homage to Eyam’s intriguing history. The parade winds through the village to the chants of ‘Burn the Rat’ before arriving at the playing fields. The rat is laid on the spectacular bonfire, followed by a fabulous fireworks display. Indulge in locally produced treats like farmhouse sausage hotdogs, jacket potatoes, and more, along with seasonal favourites like mulled wine and bonfire toffee. All proceeds benefit Eyam School PTFA and local community projects.

Note: This event sees increased yearly attendance, so be prepared for slower entry and exit from the village.

Chatsworth Fireworks

On both nights, experience not one but two incredible fireworks displays, including an earlier show designed especially for the little ones. This year, both evenings will be decorated in Halloween-themed decorations, providing ‘frightful’ fun for the whole family. And remember the mouthwatering selection of food, from delicious hog roasts to churros and sweet treats. Top it off with a seasonal glass of mulled wine or cider – the perfect winter warmers. Buxton Firework Spectacular

Firework display with hot food vendors, music, fire performers & aerial acts, clubbercise & zumba dance, fairground rides and a bar. There is NO bonfire at this event, but the fireworks display is one of the best. The Entertainment is by kids from a local performing arts school, so expect something manageable. Food at the vendor stalls is reasonably priced.

Happy hour – All Fairground rides are £2.00 from 4 pm until 5 pm.

Sterndale Moor Community Bonfire and Fireworks Display
