We were so lucky to get sent a building toy from the guys at Knex Toys it was for older children, I can honestly say we hadn’t come across them before so they were new toys to us and Kimi was certainly excited to rip into that box and get started on those connector pieces!

Knex has a huge range of construction toys and what is so fab about them is that they are made with child development in mind, especially around logical thinking and problem-solving as there are different ways to connect the pieces so it’s not as straightforward as say a lego set and takes that skill level up especially with fine motor skills. Our set is currently £13.01 on Amazon so a great price compared to all the other options on the market the quality was fantastic along with the fact it really had some great challenges and so many different ways with the connector building system it never got boring. Our set was not suitable for ages under 3 years as you can imagine there are some small pieces so little hands like Eliza’s needed to be kept away.

We received the K’NEX Rad Rides 12 Model Building Set it has over 200 classic K’NEX pieces and sturdy wheels and is aimed at ages 7+ years, with plastic rods and connectors that snap together with a simple “click” and allow you to make up to 12 different vehicles including racers, 4 wheelers, trucks and more!

You may need to be on hand a few times at first as the included instruction sheet guides are so visual and great but it takes a little while to get used to the different way things connect, which actually gave me and Kimi a great time working together trying to figure them out and he certainly felt proud when he got it before I did (Which as generally 90% of the time!). It was a great afternoon working together to create some great builds and the fact it had many different connectors meant he didn’t get bored and really felt challenged and proud when finished.

It kept Kimi entertained and engaged and a week later he is still dipping in and out building new creations so a definite hit for us and one we are certainly adding to our top kid’s Christmas stocking fillers under £15 guide!
