“Less than a third of the UK’s top jobs are held by women, including just eight at the head of FTSE 100 firms. Showing men still outnumber women in positions of power by a ratio of two to one, with ethnic minority women facing even greater levels of under-representation.”

Our Aim

Brief Description Of Our Primary Focus: We are bringing a wide range of female business leaders from all industries, including small business owners and start ups through to established and successful business brands, together in Derbyshire to connect with the important issues that matter to them, including our local business issues here in Derbyshire.

After hosting events last year and this February for IWD at Chesterfield Football Club, we are adding some great new women to our growing membership for the MMB lunch clubs and events, from starting with their businesses to thriving small businesses or business leaders from larger organisations.

We can use these influential voices to create ideas and ways to help shape and support the successful careers of current and future Derbyshire female leaders and produce business growth for everyone around the table. We appreciate it’s hard work to find free time within a busy working week, so we ensure you the ability to connect with female leaders over a 2-hour business lunch event each quarter as a highly effective use of your time at a high-quality event.

MMB Magazine has held quarterly mid to senior lunches across the UK with inspiring women female leaders from all industries, connecting over private lunch networking events and tackling the issues that matter to them. Our first MMB Private Lunch Club was launched in the city centre of Leeds in 2018 to allow women from all industries to network with other senior leaders in their field and build strong networks that support and help career and business advancement.

Abbie Coleman, Founder of MMB Magazine, chatted about the need for mid-solid to senior networks to bring women together to discuss business growth and opportunities, career development, and business networking in the Derbyshire area. Whilst there are some events in the wider East Midlands, few are based within the Derbyshire area, and due to the immense amount of female talent and leaders within Derbyshire, we know that this is something that could make a huge difference in connecting women leaders for the future of all in Derbyshire.

  • A survey of 1,183 managers conducted by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) found that just 38 per cent of senior business positions are occupied by women.
  • Only 34 per cent of respondents said their organisation had a mentoring and sponsorship programme for women, while just one in five (22 per cent) managers said they sought out and advocated for women for key projects, roles, and promotions.
  • Three in five (61 per cent) of those polled said senior managers ensured women had an equal voice in meetings and decision–making, which the CMI described as a “most basic 21st-century workplace expectation.”
