Pig & Pump – Chesterfield
A great local pub is known for some amazing real ales but also very welcoming for families, with some delicious choices. They also have a small outside area for sunny days. Great food options and for older children who can manage an adult portion, they do 2 burgers onion rings, chips, and slaw on a tray for £19 which are just amazing! Also, dog-friendly if you’re bringing the whole family along!
Chesters Fish & Chips – Chesterfield
If you’re looking for a classic then you can not go wrong with Chester’s Fish and Chips, we have been a few times as an after-school treat. You can take away or dine in. The staff is amazing and you will feel a very warm welcome, a great spot to stop for a family meal in the summer holidays when you are looking for that fish and chip treat.

Wheatsheaf, Baslow
More of a chain feel, with your normal pub classic choices including a children’s menu, but always a popular spot when the sun is out due to the large play area in the middle of the outdoor seating.
Bulls Head – Monyash Peak District
Traditional pub food with a great outdoor play area. The play area isn’t part of the pub although owned by the pub, but with a low wall, you can sit and keep an eye on your children playing in the enclosed area, best for younger kids. With great kids’ meals and generous main meal sizes, it’s sure to be a hit.

Tickled Trout – Barlow
Looking for something a little special both with décor and menu-wise, the Tickled trout has some high standards. This is the most perfect spot and adults don’t need to compromise on great food and surroundings for a delicious evening meal, while the children are well catered for. Make sure you book ahead though!
The Merlin Pub – Pride Park Derby
I know it’s a chain but when you need quick and easy and an outdoor play area while waiting for your food. It can give you that breather you need. The standard pub chain main course choices you would expect to see on the children’s menu if in doubt chicken dippers are normally the fail-safe!
