30 Brilliant Things to Do in Bedfordshire With Kids (2025 Edition)

Updated August 2025

Looking for ideas and great places to entertain the kids this weekend, or planning a fun-filled summer holiday itinerary for things to do in Bedfordshire? Whether you’re based in the county or visiting for a short break, we’ve rounded up 30 brilliant places to explore with children — from exciting animal encounters and nature trails to hands-on museums, stately homes, and places with proper cake (yes, we’re talking afternoon tea!).

I’m Abbie from MMB Magazine, and as a mum of two — Kimi (11) and Eliza (4) — our readers and us have personally tested lots of these spots. Expect tips, things to pack, what age groups they suit best, and what makes them a hit with real families. From country parks and leisure centres to historic mills and fun days out in market towns, there are plenty of activities to fill the school holidays with joy.

🦁 Woburn Safari Park

📍 Address: Woburn, MK17 9QN

💷 Entrance Fee: Yes

🌐 Website: Woburn Safari Park

Kimi still talks about the time a monkey jumped on our car wing mirror — and Eliza couldn’t stop giggling, it’s one of our top things to do in the county of Bedfordshire. Woburn Safari Park is one of the county’s top tourist attraction and worth visiting, giving kids a safari experience from the comfort of your own vehicle. Expect lions, giraffes, rhinos and more, all set in rolling countryside that’s part of the Woburn Abbey estate.

There are walk-through enclosures, animal enclosures, outdoor activities, a sea lion show, and indoor soft play — so it’s great even if the weather turns.

💡 Top Tip: Go early for the drive-through so the animals are more active. Save the soft play for when the kids need to wind down.

We loved the Hullabazoo Adventure Play, the butterfly house, and the steam train that loops around part of the zoo. It’s also near the National Trust’s Dunstable Downs — which makes a great picnic spot with spectacular views over the Chiltern Hills.
